TO CONSTRUCT AND DESIGN “NAND-GATE” BY
DISCRETE METHOD
Apparatus:
Diodes
DC Power supply
Bread board
Connectivity wires
Resistances
Digital multimeter
Theory:
The outputs are zero when both the inputs are maximum/Otherwise it will be one in all cases.
Its Boolean Expression is
X=A.B
Procedure:
1. First of all, I identified the transistor either it is NPN or PNP .i identified with digital multimeter and took NPN transistor.
2. Then diode was inserted in bread board with their P type in parallel and base of transistor was also connected with these diodes.
3. One diode is connected with resistance and applied voltage.
4. The collector of the transistor was connected with other resistance and emitter was grounded.
5. Inputs are given on the N type terminal of diode.
Conclusion:
The outputs were zero when both the inputs were 1.So the expression is
X=A.B
Applications:
1. NAND gate is used for constructing of any other gate.
2. NAND gate uses fewer components and have advantages. Those can be used in inverter.
3. It is used as a temperature and pressure sensor.
4. It is also used in automatic locking and unlocking of the doors.
5. It is used for controlling the temperature of water
