Be Mine

We had a lovely Valentine's Day yesterday (and I would have blogged about it last night had our computer not been damaged in a power surge.  Thankfully we were able to resurrect the laptop yet again).

Our day started with giving each other Valentines.
I left Dave's in his car for him to find.
The valentine that Dave left for me.
Then the girls exchanged valentines with each other (note the costume change).
Then it was off to the kitchen to begin Project: Valentine Dessert!
We made one for our dessert and one to bring to our friends!
Just as I took the picture of the valentine exchange the girls moved.

Then it was back home for lunch, computer time and a nature walk (more on that tomorrow).

Since Dave was working and Sarah's husbands volleyball team was playing several games last night we decided that it would be super fun to get together for dinner.   Heart shaped grilled cheese and tomato soup was on the menu, along with the chocolate cake for dessert (and chocolate wine for the mamas).  But first, valentines were exchanged.
Clearly, Grace has already moved on to the next holiday!

We hope that your Valentine's Day was full of love, special moments and valentines of all kinds!

We met up with my parents, brother, his girlfriend and her children for brunch and some family time today.  It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday!

It's not a trip to Old Sturbridge Village if we don't visit the sheep!
I love this picture.  It makes it look like my father is tending the sheep!
Happy Valentine's Eve from our family to yours!  We hope that your day was full of love, laughter and many wonderful memories of time spent with those who matter most!

We are all about love in this house.  We just cannot get enough of it!  There are snuggles and hugs and kisses all day long.  And while we celebrate love and this family year round we really get into it at during Valentine's!  Last year the girls decorated these adorable mailboxes (found in the Target $1.00 bin) and then each day from February 1st-14th a little love note, a chocolate or a little toy was left for them to discover after naptime. This year since no one naps anymore their mail will arrive first thing in the morning.  We picked up some new mailboxes (since last years were looking less than desirable), stickers and tissue paper at Target today and got to decorating after lunchtime!

Next year, since the girls will be older, I think that David and I will decorate mailboxes too and then we can all have fun leaving love notes and treats for each other!  xoxo

L-O-V-E

The day began with our family valentine exchange.
We gave the girls their valentines first.

Emma wasted no time unwrapping the chocolate hearts.

Then the girls checked out the valentine pails that Gramma left for them
the last time she was here.

Handmade valentines for Daddy were next.

"Here you go!"

Heart shaped cinnamon toast!
Does it get any more fun (or delicious)?!

The girls and I headed to church.
David stayed behind to finish grading papers for the class he team teaches at Northeastern University.

After we returned home, we changed, had lunch and then headed to
(the town, not the school) for Winter Fest.
I am so ready to move there!

They had sleds to use on the hills, but also for use on the rink.

What fun!

These people are made out of trees.
Amazing!

We were excited to get to see this exhibit up close.
We had seen them on TV, but to see them in person is so much more impressive!

Emma did not want to leave.

Like Father, Like Daughter.

We had a fabulous Valentine's Day!
We got to spend time together and make some wonderful new memories.
Is there anything better?
We hope that each of you had a wonderful day, and that you take the time, not only today but everyday, to ask the ones you love to "be your valentine".
Happy Valentine's Day, sweet friends!
We'll see you tomorrow.
