Dave's parents arrived yesterday to spend a few days with us.  Ever since the Christmas I was pregnant with Emma they come up during the holiday week so that we can have Christmas together and spend some time making memories.  They got here yesterday just as we were arriving home from running some errands, and once everyone was settled it was decided that then was a good time to open a few gifts from Grandma and Grandpa.

This year the girls were all about the Magic Cabin catalog.  They poured over it (and any other copy that arrived) for weeks.  Emma would point to this doll and say "my doll?"  She was so excited to see her wish come true!
Just like Em had wished for her doll, Grace spent lots of time dreaming about many things from that lovely catalog.  One of them was this item.  I love that she has a love for hanging the wash on the line already!
The girls introduce their dolls to each other.  It was fitting that Dave's parents gave Emma her doll as they had given Grace hers on her second Christmas (the Christmas I was pregnant with Em).
Each girl is now the proud recipient of their own lovely cup, plate and bowl.
Setting up the marble run.
This toy is a huge hit and will clearly be loved for years to come!
We ended our night with dinner at The Wayside Inn.  The dessert is always the best part!

About an hour after we left Connectictu we arrived at Dave's Aunt Lucia and Uncle Joe's house.  We don't often travel on Christmas day since the weeks leading up to it are so busy with Dave's extra hours at the store, but this year since Christmas was on a Saturday we figured why not?  So we had our usual Christmas morning (just the four of us), then headed to Connecticut, and finally arrived in New York late afternoon.  We arrived to a house full of family members and the smell of a delicious meal being cooked.  What could be better?!

The girls open their gifts from Aunt Donna and Uncle Peter.
Opening gifts from Grandma and Granpa.
Playing with the Santa Slide with James and Aunt Jean.
David and Aunt Jean catch up.
Toni, Roseanne, Rachel and Rita chat about past Christmases and what they've been up to recently.
"Merry Christmas!"
Cousins.
"Cake!"
Emma was all about the desserts!

It was such a treat to get to be there.  We all had a most wonderful time!  Our drive home was quick and easy and virtually traffic free.  We were tucked snuggly in bed, with memories of our wonderful Christmas day dancing in our heads by 11:15pm.  It was a Christmas that we will never forget!

Due to the snowstorm that is on its way today, it was decided to that we should quickly stop by my parents house on our way to New York for Christmas with Dave's side of the family.  It was agreed on that it would be the quickest of visits, since we were due in New York for Christmas dinner. The original plan had been that we would Christmas with the NY/NJ crew on Christmas Day and have the CT contingent here at our house for dinner the day after.  With the large amount of snow predicted for us (12-20 inches here in our part of MA) it seemed that the smart choice would be to postpone Chrsistmas with my family and just do a quick pit stop on our way to New York.

Snack is a must at Gramma and Grandpa's.
Gramma and Grandpa gave the girls the bathroom for their new dollhouse!
Dave had my Dad for "Secret Santa".  He gave him chill drops for wine,
and a mug made at OSV.
I had my mom for "Secret Santa".  She recieved some goodies that the girls and I made while we
were elving,
a couple Christmas CDs,
and a book that she was really excited about!
"Oh, Papa!"
Giddy up, Emma!
It was totally fabulous to get to stop by and have Christmas in Connecticut, but we were very bummed out that Uncle Grant and Aunt Kaitlyn were not there.  We are hoping that we can have our Christmas with the whole family on New Years Day!

An hour later we headed out to continue our journey to New York...

"A precious heart like in yoga!"
Each girl recieved three little fairies in their stockings.
This year we decided to use a poem that my friend Jannine shared with me a few months ago.  It is four lines long, which basically equals four gifts (which is a fabulous way to choose meaningful, beautiful gifts).
Something you want,
Something you need,
Something you hope for,
Something to read.
We will indeed be using this poem for many years to come!  It really made choosing gifts so much easier and way more meaningful!
Merry Christmas, from our family to yours!  May your holiday be full of the blessing of time spent with family and friends, and lots of magic and wonder!
